The Garden Cottage is a wonderful surprise in a private setting! Nestled by itself amid lush gardens and wildlife, this charming log cabin has a peek-a-boo view looking East to the private lake and the La Plata Mountains.
Indulge yourself or your family in a private holiday retreat where you can rest, paint, read a book, write a poem or take a class.
On the covered deck ... languish in overstuffed furniture, drink fresh coffee or watch the joyous antics of birds. Contemplate a thought, a book or a loved one in the morning light, the immensity of stars, the brilliance of moonrise or the exquisite beauty of rainbows reflecting in water. Eat toast and cherry/raspberry jam. Do a Tai Chi form or some Yoga.
Snuggle with your sweetheart on a couch in front of the cozy fireplace or on the deck. Feel the gardens thick with the scents of flowers and the blur of hummingbirds. Thrill to delicious fall air, autumn color or huge winter snowflakes followed by sparkling sun.
Take your child on an adventure. Go fishing, take a hike, a boat ride. Adventure out to nearby Mesa Verde National Park, take a stagecoach ride in the Mancos Valley or horseback riding in the mountains with "real" cowboys. Study the area's fascinating Indian Culture at the Anasazi Heritage Museum, Hovenweep, Canyon of the Ancients or the Ute Mountain Tribal Park. Amenities specific for the Garden Cottage
The lovely bedroom has a queen pillow top bed that faces a large bay window bringing in scenes of the private garden. In the living room, a comfy day bed doubles as a sunny reading nook and a "pop-up" underneath makes up to a king or two twin beds. A single futon can be used on the deck, on the living room floor or as a cozy spot in front of the fireplace for sleeping or lounging.
A full private bath faces south to the garden with tub, tall shower, long sink counter and hand painted floor. Savor the lovely bath products in a warm tub or an invigorating shower.
The kitchen faces West to the pine and cedar woods. The walnut and pine floors, shelves and molding were collected from the artist's family home in Michigan give warmth to the interior atmosphere. Complete with antique quilts, hand hooked rugs, whimsical furniture and original art. Books, magazines and games provide fun and peaceful hours.
