Hosts, Peggy and Lee
Peggy moved to Southwest Colorado in 1993 after living and working as an artist in Seattle, Washington for 20 years. She purchased 40 acres of woods, streams, a lake with largemouth bass and a view of the La Plata mountains. Structures included three log cabins and an assortment of smaller barns and buildings – all of which needed extensive remodeling. Now, main cabins are available for rent to artists, writers, honeymooners, workshops, family vacations and getaways. There is also an extra studio space available for rent to guests who are staying at Willowtail Springs.
The gardens have been developed into inviting oasis’ winding through piñon and juniper.
In 2000, Peggy married a friend from Seattle Lee Cloy an expert in property and building management, Tai Chi Practitioner, and a true visionary and problem solver. His arrival has made Willowtail Springs blossom and become even more lush.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by Beau Jangles, our new puppy. If you take a hike, chances are you will have friendly tagalongs to entertain your stroll.

Stewardship of the land, water, air and wildlife has steadily increased. From 2001-2004 Lee and Peggy saved 7,800 pinion, cedar and ponderosa trees from the infestation of the Ips bark beetle. Together, they have also released numerous raptors for the Colorado Division of Wildlife and added 20 more acres of land.
The magical environment at Willowtail Springs seems to calm and inspire guests and friends as well as provide a lifestyle for Peggy and Lee which influences their life and work. Together, they maintain Art and Tai Chi studios in the nearby town of Mancos, plus the Working Studio and Treehouse Gallery on the property, where guests can see Peggy's work or take an art or Tai Chi lesson. There is also a growing list of Workshops/Retreats which are very popular and being offered, both for guests staying at Willowtail Springs and people attending for the day.
Peggy's work and history as an artist can also be seen on peggycloy.com.
